During meditation, I had been focusing my intention on finding a place, a space to expand my teaching. One day, after considering a teaching offer at a studio, I was weighing the sacrifice I’d be making away from family and paying for childcare when, I suddenly realized, the opportunity was literally staring me in the face. My mission statement is this:
To bring together community through yoga. To offer a unique experience in which students can explore, expand and awaken to their full potential- A playground for the soul. I will open my home to the community of families and friends in my neighborhood, as well as, to anyone with an open heart. I will provide a space for us to practice together, socialize over tea together and support one another .
I have a wonderful and talented friend who also happens to be one of our areas best interior designers, Elke Neumeyer of Neumeyer Designs. She has designed a space that will incorporate all the important elements of a practice space; light, serenity and comfort. I had to laugh as one style element of the room (which I’ll leave a surprise) had me feeling a bit unsure, a little uncomfortable and way out of the realm of what I think I can pull off, but she quoted me back to me! She said “Julie…you have to take a risk, go outside your comfort zone. You might be pleasantly surprised”. Well, it was decided right there and then, I HAVE to do it and practice what I preach. I’m excited to go out on a limb, trust and take a risk- hmmmm…a perfect metaphor for this new endeavor!
I hope you will come to my open house upon completion, tell your friends and grab a mat. I look forward to giving you a neighborhood respite-where I will support you and guide you closer to self through meditation, gentle asana and the opportunity to experience your own awakening!
